My name is Drezz, and I’ve been a Habs fan for over 25 years.
I started St. Patrick’s Poutine as a light-hearted commentary on the state of affairs surrounding the Montreal Canadiens. It could be a story about past heroes, current prospects or memories from days gone by. The theme of each post is similar – quirky, fun diatribes about the team and its players. There’s no set standard to anything – hence the term “melting pot.” And what famous Quebecois concoction is full of melted goodness – that’s right! Poutine!
My favourite player growing up was Patrick Roy, so in order to bring everything together, I titled the blog St. Patrick’s Poutine. He made me a fan of the team, and this blog is a melting pot of stories, and I love my Habs. There you go – no deep seeded psychological meaning – just the straight up facts.
I’m not trying to run a news site with up-to-the-minute trades and analysis. There are far better (or worse) news outlets that cover that sort of thing. My job here is to provide a long time fan’s perspective on the past, present and future of the team with a bit of comedy and silliness thrown in to keep things above the tone of serious business. After all, this is a hobby, and I like my team some days and hate my team on others just like some of you out there.
So lets share in the glory and misery together – and we can have a laugh, a drink and a bite of gravy soaked goodness to go with it.
